Haven Shoemaker was elected to two terms as mayor of Hampstead before being elected County Commissioner.
He operates a law practice in Hampstead. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland
Baltimore County and a law degree from the Widener University School of Law. He served as an infantryman
in the Army National Guard. A member of the Westminster Baptist Church, Mr. Shoemaker previously presided
over the Carroll County Chapter of the Maryland Municipal League and has been a member of the Carroll
County Economic Development Commission and a board member of the Marriage Resource Center and Carroll
County Habitat for Humanity. He and his wife, Patricia, have a son and live in Hampstead.
District 2 covers the eastern portion of Carroll County. It includes Hampstead and Finksburg.
