Upcoming Planning and Zoning Commission Work Sessions

The Carroll County Planning and Zoning Commission has scheduled two work sessions on the draft plan to review comments received during the 60-day review period and public hearing. These work sessions will be held from 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in Room 003 of the County Office Building on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, September 8, 2010
  • Monday, September 13, 2010
Public Workshops and Public Hearing

Three community information workshops were held in July. All were held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in an open house format on the dates and locations listed below:

  • Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at North Carroll High School's cafeteria, 1400 Panther Drive, Hampstead
  • Monday, July 19, 2010, at Runnymede Elementary School's cafeteria, 3000 Langdon Drive, near Taneytown
  • Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Century High School's cafeteria, 355 Ronsdale Road, Eldersburg

No formal presentation was made. The public had a chance to interact directly with Planning Department staff and ask questions that will allow individuals to provide informed and constructive comments to the Commission. The Carroll County Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing following the 60-day review period on the recommended master plan. The hearing was held on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at the Carroll Community College's Scott Center Auditorium, located at 1601 Old Washington Road in Westminster.

Background and Process

On October 20, 2009, the Planning Commission directed staff to review, update, and revise the 2000 Master Plan. A working draft of this plan was presented to the Planning Commission at its Tuesday, December 15, 2009, meeting.
