Fall Harvest Days, the Farm Museum's oldest and second largest event, is held each October to celebrate the arrival of autumn. A day filled with fun activities for the whole family, the two-day event features traditional autumn happenings which include apple butter making, scarecrow making workshops, threshing demonstrations, tractor and mule-pulled wagon rides, old-fashioned games, and much more.
Fall Harvest Days 2009, co-sponsored by the Carroll County Times and Renewal by Andersen, will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 3 & 4, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Continuous country music is performed on-stage each day by talented local musicians.
A variety of delicious country foods is available to purchase, and visitors can shop for treasures at the many craft vendors on the grounds. The Carroll County Artists Guild will host a fine art show and sale.
Fall Harvest Days 2009 has several new activities. A hay bale maze and "pumpkins in a haystack" will be located in the Reception Barn. Visitors can try their hand at the corn cannon to see how far an ear of corn can go. Purchase three ears for a dollar.
In addition, guided tours of the 1800s Farmhouse are given, and artisans demonstrate old-time skills in the Living History Center which may include weaving, spinning, wood carving, broom making, basketry, tinsmithing, quilting, blacksmithing, open hearth cooking and rug hooking. The Museum's Gift Shop is open with an abundance of artisan-made items, candy, stuffed animals, toys, books, and gift and seasonal items.
