The Bureau of Roads Operations maintains approximately 973 miles of roads and 139 bridges.
Routine maintenance of the roads include roadside mowing, patching, drainage work, pipe cleaning
and replacement, tree trimming and removal, storm drain maintenance and repair, and surface sealing
operations. The Bureau responds to emergency situations such as snowstorms, flooding, downed trees,
and vehicle accidents. The County is divided into 50 snowplow routes. Salt and abrasives are stored
at 5 locations throughout the County.
The Bureau of Roads Operations is also responsible for the maintenance of all types of road signs as well
as highway striping.
