Ken Tregoning was elected in November of 1998 as the 57th Sheriff to serve Carroll County. Sheriff Tregoning is a 30-year veteran of the Maryland State Police where he developed his exemplary leadership and management skills. During his distinguished career, he served on the Superintendents staff in planning and research, and was Director of the State Police Training Academy. Ken Tregoning has also served as Commander of the Frederick, Waterloo, Golden Ring, and Westminster Barracks, and has served on several police study committees here in Carroll County. As Westminster Barrack Commander, he implemented the Trooper Resource Program for Carroll County High Schools, and initiated the Police Explorer Program. Sheriff Tregoning served his Country in the United States Marine Corps where he specialized as a weaponry instructor. Ken, his wife Peggy, and their four children are natives of Central Maryland and have resided in Carroll County for over 36 years. His volunteer work with children in the school system, little league, youth recreation, and 4-H has kept him secure in the family traditions that are known as the backbone of the Carroll County Community. As Sheriff, Ken brings a dedication of service to all Carroll County Citizens, and insists on a professional and reliable Sheriff’s Office that is responsive to the needs of the community. |
