EFFECTIVE JANUARY, 2015 LIVESCAN FINGERPRINTING WILL BE MOVED TO WEDNESDAYS!

Fingerprinting

In early 2012, the Department of Justice notified Maryland law enforcement agencies that they would no longer accept rolled ink fingerprint cards and agencies submitting fingerprints would have to transition to an electronic LiveScan fingerprinting system. Out of the 26 Maryland public locations with the LiveScan system, there were none located in Carroll County. With approved funding from the Carroll County Board of Commissioners, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was able to purchase one of these systems thereby reducing the inconvenience for both citizens and employers by creating a local location to get Federal and State fingerprints scanned.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

Our hours of operation for fingerprinting are Tuesdays, 9am through 3pm. Please be advised that starting January, 2015 fingerprinting will be moved to Wednesdays, 9am through 3pm. No appointment is necessary unless you are a business sending multiple people in for prints or you need ink prints – in these cases; please see below for further instructions.  Due to volunteer availability, these Tuesday hours are the only times we are able to complete electronic fingerprinting for the general public.  If you are not available during these hours, please contact Essential Support Services LLC. in Eldersburg at 1-866-388-9606 to have them service your request.

 

BUSINESSES

Businesses or Organizations with multiple applicants to be fingerprinted via LiveScan are requested to call ahead to set up an appointment. For expedited LiveScan service, please complete, print and bring the PRE-REGISTRATION FINGERPRINT APPLICATION with you when you come to the Sheriff's Office to be fingerprinted.

 

INK PRINTS OR CARDS

We DO NOT roll ink prints on Tuesdays.  You must call 410-386-2835 and leave a message to set an appointment to have ink prints rolled.  You MUST have an appointment to have ink cards completed.  Walk-ins will not be accepted.  The fee for rolled ink prints is $5.00 per card.  A check or money order can be made payable to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

 

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

  • A pre-registration fingerprint application must be completed prior to being fingerprinted. This form can be downloaded by clicking here
    PRE-REGISTRATION FINGERPRINT APPLICATION..
  • One VALID form of  Government issued personal identification with your picture on it (drivers license, military id, or any other official document with your photo on it)
  • You MUST have your ORI number and Authorization number prior to being processed.  If you do not have these numbers please contact the employer/agency requesting your fingerprints and background to acquire them.
  • We do NOT accept credit cards.  If you do not have cash or TWO checks you will need to leave and relinquish your place in line until you do.  Two checks are required due to some funds going to the State and some to the County.  See below for more information.
  • Do NOT put on heavy lotions or moisturizers on your hands prior to coming in to be fingerprinted.  Clean, lotion free hands will make your process run much more smoothly.

 

FEES

These scans are sent directly to the State and/or FBI, therefore we will need to collect these fees and our rolling fee prior to being fingerprinted. These fees vary depending on the reasons for your fingerprinting. Click this FEE SCHEDULE for a breakdown of the various fees. We can only accept Cash, Checks and Money Orders. If paying by check or money order, you will need to bring two; one will be made payable to the Commissioners of Carroll County in the amount as designated by the FEE SCHEDULE. The other will be made payable to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office in the amount of $10.00 (rolling fee).

 

If your organization has pre-registered with us AND you have a form with the signature of an AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE, the company will be billed for all fees.
