Carroll County Drug Task Force Launches
Anonymous Text Tips Via tip411

Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland; May 24, 2017 ------ The Carroll County Drug Task Force is pleased to announce a new way for the public to share important information with investigators: tip411. This internet based tool allows anonymous communication with law enforcement detectives through a dedicated mobile app, text messaging, or a browser based internet link. The tip411 software, a product from Citizen Observer, removes all identifying information from the sender, allowing the message to be completely anonymous while still allowing two-way communication. This service is being offered as a way to submit tips concerning any drug related activity in Carroll County directly to Drug Task Force Investigators.

The easiest way to access this new tool is via the mobile app, which is available as a free download through both the Google Play Store and the iTunes App Store. The app allows users to send text or pictures directly to law enforcement, who receive the message without any personally identifying information. If you do not wish to download the app, you can still access this service through text messaging. To begin, send a text to 847411 (tip411) and begin the message with the keyword “CARROLLDTF”. This keyword is essential to ensure the message is properly routed by the software. Rest assured, just as with the dedicated app, the tip411 software does not provide any identifying information with the message, which allows the sender to remain completely anonymous.

“This system has been successful in communities across the U.S.,” said Terry Halsch, President of tip411. “Departments have been helped tremendously by members of the public who have sent anonymous text messages to police with important information that often leads to arrests.”
