Child Support InformationThe Child Support Division of the State's Attorneys Office (Child Support Unit) represents the Child Support Enforcement Administration on behalf of the Carroll County Department of Social Services, Bureau of Support Enforcement in the establishment of paternity, establishment of child support obligations, modification of existing obligations and the enforcement of child support orders. The Child Support Unit operates pursuant to Part D, Title IV of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C 651 et seq.) and is funded by both the federal and local county governments. Child support legal services provided by the Child Support Unit of the State's Attorneys Office begin as a referral from the Department of Social Services, Bureau of Support Enforcement. A person who desires to pursue child support services must first apply through the Department of Social Services, Bureau of Support Enforcement. Those applicants not receiving Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) will be charged a one-time fee of $25.00.
