Economic Crimes UnitThe Economic Crimes Unit is responsible for prosecuting financial crimes and criminal fraud cases in Carroll County. The bulk of the Unit's cases involve theft, embezzlement, misappropriation by a fiduciary, identity theft, and financial elder abuse cases. These cases generally involve complex financial issues often resulting in substantial losses to the victims. The preparation and prosecution of a white collar offense involves extensive investigation and requires a high degree of prosecutor involvement. The Unit members work directly with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in the investigations. Specialized training, skill and experience are necessary by both the investigator and prosecutor to successfully prosecute these cases. Complaints regarding fraudulent activity should be reported to your local law enforcement agency, or call 410-386-2671. |
